Welcome to Hydro Duck Graphic Coatings, where we transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with hydro dipping. Our innovative coating solutions enable you to personalize and enhance almost any object. From automotive accessories to daily items, our skilled team uses advanced hydrographic techniques to apply intricate designs & vibrant colors that last.
What is Hydro Dipping?
Hydro dipping, also known as water transfer printing, involves applying printed designs onto virtually any material, including wood, steel, aluminum, plastics, and glass. This process uses a water-soluble film that contains complex patterns and colors.
Our Services
We offer advanced water transfer printing, applying stunning patterns to nearly any 3D surface. Our process includes an epoxy primer, three base coats, hydro dipping, and a UV and chip-resistant clear coat. Choose designs like carbon, wood grains, skulls, cartoons, and more, or custom-create your own. Our finishes are heat-resistant up to 200 degrees Celsius.
The Technology
The item to be dipped undergoes a complete painting process. It is first prepared, primed, and painted. Before the clear coat is applied, the item is ready for the hydrographic process. We place a special film printed with the desired graphic into a water tank. This film is made of polyvinyl alcohol, which dissolves in water when treated with an activator solution.
During the dipping process, the water’s surface tension allows the pattern to conform to any shape. Any excess residue is then washed off, leaving the ink securely adhered and undisturbed by water. The item is left to dry.
The ink’s adhesion to the item is enhanced by the activator, which softens the base coat allowing the ink to bond effectively. Proper application of the activator is crucial, and incorrect amounts can lead to poor adhesion.
What We Do
There are 5 important processes

Surface Cleaning
We clean and degrease the part and make sure it is free of debris.

Primer
We use a military-spec epoxy primer to prime the part you want us to dip.

Base Coat
Once the primer coat is completely dry, we will apply the base coat. The base coat will be the primary color of the part you want to dip.

Application Of Hydro Print
We carefully place the selected pattern film onto the water's surface and spray an activator chemical to dissolve the film's plastic. After 10 seconds, we begin submerging the part into the water, ensuring every corner is covered.

Clear Coating
Finally, we apply a clear coat, which can be either glossy or matte—your choice.
